Mckeon Shifts to StrawberryFrog as ECD

NEW YORK StrawberryFrog has imported Andy Mckeon, the former creative director on Mitsubishi in Europe, to be executive creative director of its New York office, the agency said.

Mckeon, 36, had worked at the shop’s Amsterdam, the Netherlands, office since 2002, heading up the launch of Mitsubishi’s Colt in 42 countries. That experience might help the agency land a car account, said Scott Goodson, CEO and CCO of StrawberryFrog in New York.

“We have a definite competence to work with cars,” Goodson said. “That’s an area we want to pursue in the U.S.”

Goodson did not name potential clients, but sources have said the New York office is a finalist in the $20 million Smart Car review. The agency was also named by sources as having been involved in the early stages of the $100 million Jaguar review.

Goodson said Mckeon is familiar with the agency’s method of maintaining a small core staff and employing freelancers based on work flow. Mckeon is also familiar with the U.S. ad landscape, having worked on Nike at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore., on Polaroid at Goodby Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco and on the MSN 8 account at McCann Erickson in San Francisco. He also helmed a San Francisco-based consultancy called Andy Mac.

Replacing Mckeon in Europe is Jason Schragger, who was most recently executive creative director at Lowe Singapore, where he led the HSBC account, Goodson said. Schragger, who worked on Audi at BBH in London, will assume the Mitsubishi duties.
