Margeotes Taps New Partner

Leeann Leahy, director of account planning at Margeotes|Fertitta + Partners, was named partner.

Leahy, 30, who will maintain her current position, will participate in the overall management of the New York shop with its nine other partners. Her primary duties include taking part in pitches, new-business development and acquisitions.

In her account planning role, she oversees five planners and works on all accounts, which include Bombay Sapphire gin, CNA Financial Corp. and Godiva Chocolatier.

“She expanded our planning department, and this was an appropriate time to make her a partner,” said George Fertitta, president and CEO. “We want to acknowledge her contribution.”

Leahy said she looks forward to having a say in determining the agency’s direction. “I want to define what the Margeotes brand stands for,” she said.

Leahy joined Margeotes in 1997 from Saatchi & Saatchi in New York, where she served as senior strategic planner for a year.

She began her career in 1991 as a strategic planning account executive at Bates in New York. In 1993, she joined Kirshenbaum Bond & Part ners, also in New York, where she became senior planner, working on Keds and Snapple. Leahy’s mentor there was planner Nigel Carr.

“I had good mentors in this business and learned from creative, media and business minds,” she said.

The last partner named at Margeotes was Nancy Katz, director of client services, who was given the partner title two years ago. The shop has 225 staffers.
