Hoffman/Lewis Names President

LOS ANGELES Sharon Krinsky has been named president of independent Hoffman/Lewis Advertising.

Krinsky, 45, joined the San Francisco shop as a junior copywriter in 1991, rising through the creative ranks to ecd, evp under Bob Hoffman, who retains his CEO title.

Krinsky is also a partner with an equity stake and a board member at the agency, which also operates an outpost in St. Louis. Krinsky assumes the presidency of both offices, which employ 90 staffers overall.

As president, Krinsky said her goal would be to “focus more on the creative product, get a more national reputation and expand our regional relationships.”

Krinsky said the succession has been in the works since Guy Bommarito was hired as an svp, cd from Omnicom’s GSD&M Idea City, Austin, Texas, last November.

Krinsky said she would defer to Bommarito on most creative matters, as he was hired to revamp that department, but intends to keep her hand in the Northern California Toyota Dealers Association business. Ads for that client star former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young.

Young has done 24 spots since he started pitching for Toyota, Krinsky said. The latest was for the Tundra pickup truck. “We don’t have him talking about cars, but always work him into a narrative,” she said, praising Young’s acting skills.

The agency has a long-standing relationship with Toyota’s DMA that dates back to 1989. Other accounts include regional McDonald’s, for which Krinsky created the character “Eddie the Echo,” VSP, Bank of the West and Beverages and More (BevMo).
