Gotham Hires CD on Maybelline

NEW YORK Jane Mauksch has joined Interpublic Group’s Gotham as global creative director for Maybelline, the agency said. She succeeds managing partner and creative director Glen Jacobs, who left Gotham for Roberts & Tarlow last year.

Mauksch has previously held creative positions in the beauty industry, including as senior vice president and creative director at Estee Lauder’s Clinique Labs, where she managed a 50-person department and weighed in on every aspect of Clinique advertising, packaging, in-store events and on-counter merchandising.

She was also tasked with overseeing Clinique’s global image, and created materials that were used in more than 80 countries. After eight years at Clinique, Mauksch left in June 2003 to become a creative branding consultant, working for a number of clients in the beauty industry as well as the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Lynn Giordano, chief creative officer of Gotham in New York, said, “The cosmetics business is highly competitive and dependent on fresh creative ideas to stimulate excitement. Jane has the talent and established track record to help accomplish this.”

Mauksch started her advertising career as a copywriter at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston, and subsequently worked at Grey and Wells Rich Greene in New York. At the latter, she became associate creative director on Oil of Olay.
