Gillespie Wins 4 New Clients

Gillespie has been awarded direct marketing and some general advertising duties for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons, following a review.
The Princeton, N.J., agency has also landed creative and media chores on three above-the-line ad accounts: American Re, a reinsurance provider; STS Tire & Auto Centers; and The Managers Funds, a mutual fund group. The three accounts total more than $8 million, said agency founder and president Dick Gillespie.
For Phoenix-based Red Door Salons, Gillespie bested New York shops Grybauskas Beatrice and Christy, MacDougall, Mitchell. Grybauskas was awarded interactive chores on the new account, which is worth less than $1 million, sources said. The spa and salon chain’s general brand advertising is handled in-house by Red Door licensor Elizabeth Arden.
American Re’s account was shifted from incumbent Brouillard Communications, New York, following a review. Both the client and the agency declined to name the other contenders. New work is expected in late spring.
STS, which also held a review for its business, was previously handled in-house. Two undisclosed shops were also finalists in that contest. New TV work is expected in the fall.
The Managers Funds was previously handled in-house and was shifted without a review.
The agency is also testing new TV ads for client Columbia House, a division of Sony Entertainment. Spots will carry the tagline, “Entertainment in the key of E.” Gillespie was tapped in October to handle both print and broadcast advertising for Total E, the company’s new Web site (www.totale.com). Billings are undisclosed. A national rollout is planned for the fall.
Gillespie, now in its 25th year, is an integrated marketing communications firm claiming current billings of more than $140 million.
