DALLAS Cadbury Schweppes has hired Randy Gier to lead marketing efforts for the Americas Beverages division as executive vice president of marketing, the company said.

Gier, 43, will be responsible for the company’s Americas beverage brands, which include Dr Pepper, Snapple, Mott’s Apple Juice and Clamato. He joins the company March 22 and will report to the division’s president and chief executive officer, Gilbert Cassagne.

Gier has served as chief marketing officer of Yum! Restaurants International, the Yum! Brands division that operates restaurants outside the country since September 2002. A representative from Yum! could not immediately be reached for comment.

The new post at Cadbury was created in December when the company consolidated its three independent beverages businesses under the Americas Beverages group. The brands had previously been handled under Dr Pepper/Seven Up in Plano, Texas, Snapple Beverage Group in White Plains, N.Y., or Mott’s in Stamford, Conn.

Gier will operate out of Plano and at a Northeast office that has not yet been determined.
