NEW YORK Tropicana yesterday began its search for a real-life Tropic-Ana, the grass-skirted brand icon not used in Pure Premium advertising or packaging since the 1970s.

Fifty girls between 5- and 8-years-old gathered at the Times Square Studio in New York to enter the contest. Regis Philbin hosted the event, organized by Ketchum Public Relations in New York. Girls who would like to be considered can apply online by May 1, 2004; finalists will be chosen the following month.
