Edelman’s Blue Forges Political Alliance

BOSTON Edelman advertising unit Blue Worldwide has formed a strategic alliance with GOP political ad firm Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm.

Blue formed the relationship in order to pursue public affairs and referendum advertising assignments, according to Robert McKernan, Blue’s president in Washington, D.C.

“[We will] be blending their expertise in political campaign work with our public affairs and consumer advertising expertise,” said McKernan, who noted the two shops might occasionally work together on new business pitches.

SRCP will maintain a separate identity from Blue. During the past decade, the Washington-based agency has produced ad campaigns for several U.S. Senators including Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Blue’s client roster has included the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Recording Academy and the American Petroleum Institute.
