The sickly economy is setting the U.S. up for a downturn in the population’s physical health, as recent polls have found people scrimping on healthcare and prescribed drugs.
A study issued last month by International Communications Research typifies the genre. Based on polling in November, it estimated that some 13.5 million Americans who use long-term prescribed drugs had acted during the prior three months “to stretch out their medications, either reducing the dosage or taking it less often than prescribed.”
