Critical Mass Names Wilkins CEO

NEW YORK Critical Mass said Dianne Wilkins, formerly its chief operating officer, would take over as CEO. Current CEO Jerry Johnston will assume the new role of chairman of the agency.

Wilkins joined the firm in 1998, helping build the Web shop’s Stockholm, Sweden, office. She returned to the agency’s Chicago headquarters, where she served as COO under Johnston.

Johnston, a former Young & Rubicam executive, is giving up the CEO reins after six years, having grown the Web design company to 400 employees in eight offices worldwide. As chairman, he will work directly with Critical Mass’s top clients, which include Rolex and Citigroup, as well as new business pitches. Omnicom Group owns a majority stake in the shop.

The agency said Chris Gokiert would replace Wilkins as COO, remaining a managing director. Lee Tamkee was named chief financial officer.
