Core, DMB&B Top St. Louis Addys

The St. Louis Addy awards were dominated by shops opposite in size, with Core taking 32 awards, mostly for print work, and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles grabbing 26, mostly in broadcast categories.
Best of Show in the print category went to Fuse for its work for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. DMB&B won Best of Show in broadcast for a spot for former client Pacific Bell. Core also picked up two special citations from the judges for design excellence.
A total of 141 Addys were handed out at a ceremony in the Gateway City last Thursday. The winners were chosen from a group of more than 1,000 entries, according to event organizers.
The judges for the show were Nancy Perry Johnson, co-president of Market Force in Raleigh, N.C.; Mike Jones Kelly, a principal at Creative Circus, Atlanta; Lynn Lilly, creative director at Liggett Stashower in Cleveland; Terry Slaughter, creative director at Slaughter Hanson, Birmingham, Ala.; and Jason Strong, an art director at Duffy Design in Minneapolis.
In other Midwest Addy competitions, Ira Thomas Associates, Youngstown, Ohio, won Best of Show in print and Hitchcock Fleming and Associates, Akron, took Best of Show in broadcast at the Akron (Ohio) Addy Show.
At the Columbus (Ohio) Addys, Zero Base Advertising in Dublin, Ohio, won Best of Show honors and also garnered the most overall Addys with 18.
