Carat Interactive Names Search Exec

NEW YORK Carat Interactive said it has promoted Jeremy Cornfeldt to replace Ron Belanger as vice president of search and affiliate marketing.

Cornfeldt, 33, was an account director at the Aegis Group interactive agency, working on search campaigns for clients such as Hyatt, Equifax and He will lead Carat Interactive’s search-marketing work for AOL’s new portal, which will rely heavily on search ads to draw users.

Cornfeldt will be based in Carat Interactive’s Boston office and will report to Greg Smith, executive vice president of media insights.

Carat Interactive lost Belanger earlier this month, when he left the agency to become vice president of marketing at, a Boston-based firm that has 500,000 Internet sites that it uses to display keyword-priced advertisements.

Prior to joining Carat Interactive, Cornfeldt was head of affiliate marketing at Vizium, a Web marketing agency purchased by Aegis in 2002, and a consultant at Andersen Consulting.
