Capital One Bank Awards Ad Chores to KBS+P

Leaders from Glossier, Shopify, Mastercard and more will take the stage at Brandweek to share what strategies set them apart and how they incorporate the most valued emerging trends. Register to join us this September 23–26 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Capital One Bank has expanded its relationship with MDC Partners’ Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners, awarding the agency advertising chores.

New York-based KBS+P, through its Company C specialized marketing unit has handled direct for Capital One Credit Cards since 2004, and digital duties since 2006.

Last year, Capital One Bank spent $27 million in measured media, per Nielsen. Through September of this year, it spent $28 million. KBS+P will handle print, out-of-home, radio, digital and nontraditional marketing. It could not immediately be determined if there was an incumbent of if the work was handled in-house.

Former McCann Erickson New York president Lori Senecal became CEO at KBS+P in August — and the agency’s name was changed at that time to reflect her arrival. McCann worked for Capital One in 2003-04, but Senecal had no involvement with the account, the agency said.

“We are delighted to expand our relationship and tap into a broader range of services with Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners,” said Marc Mentry, managing vp, brand marketing, Capital One, in a statement.

Senecal added: “Capital One transformed the credit card industry through brand leadership and innovation. We are delighted to support them as they extend that spirit of leadership to consumer and commercial banking.”
