APL Staffs Up For GM

Ammirati Puris Lintas has named David Harner, former senior vice president and senior creative director at BBDO in New York, executive vice president, managing director, creative. Harner has been paired with Adam Goldstein, who has held the same title since July, to lead the creative group in charge of the newly won General Motors GMC trucks account.
The group, one of six at Ammirati’s New York office, will also service United Parcel Service, Labatt and RCA, which Goldstein handled prior to his pairing with Harner. The group will now expand from 10 to approximately 18-20 members, Goldstein said.
Goldstein, a copywriter, and art director Harner report to co-creative directors Tom Nelson and Mark Johnson. According to Nelson, Harner and Goldstein “have very complementary skill sets.” Harner said, “We don’t approach subjects the same way.”
Goldstein and Harner’s group is working on a campaign for GMC that will break in the spring. The agency is still in preliminary talks with the client about the new advertising, but Harner said that TV and print ads will likely “leverage [the client’s] truck heritage.”
The GMC group is the first of several planned additions to the creative department. Nelson and Johnson are in the process of developing a seventh creative group, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
The agency recently picked up more than $200 million worth of new business, having landed ad accounts or media duties from GMC, Iridium, Montblanc and Nickelodeon.
