With gas prices prompting consumers to make fewer shopping trips, you expect people to buy in bulk when they do dare to drive to the store. A Vertis Communications poll finds relatively weak movement in that direction, though.
In all, 36 percent said they’re “stocking up more.” People were more likely to say they’re “shopping closer to home” (64 percent). Women age 25-34 were especially likely to identify themselves as more avid stocker-uppers-43 percent, vs. 32 percent of the men in that age cohort.
