NEW YORK Old Navy moves away from the campy musical in its new back-to-school ads created by both Deutsch/LA and StrawberryFrog.

One TV spot by StrawberryFrog in New York, which broke on broadcast prime time last night, shows a Howard Johnson-style diner in which fry cooks and waitresses serve up back-to-school fashions to moms and their kids. In it, server Shirley delivers “adjustable waist cords” and “one pair of huskies for the kid with the appetite,” among other fashions, before telling the cook, “I’m gonna need a lot more socks.”
