NEW YORK Samsung has broken an online ad campaign to recruit marketing talent with online video.

The recruitment video pitch is by Peter Weedfald, Samsung’s senior vice president of consumer electronics in North America, who invites viewers to apply for jobs with the electronics giant. In the video, Weedfald extols Samsung’s strengths and market position. He then introduces David Edwards, Samsung’s director of human resources, who solicits resumes to work at the company’s New Jersey office. The Web page includes links to the available marketing and sales jobs at Samsung.

Samsung is running ads for the campaign on the Web sites of The New York Times, USA Today, Business Week and several trade publications, including Adweek.

Samsung is one of several companies to add Web video to their marketing efforts. In June, Charles Schwab rolled out an ad campaign that linked to a series of online videos featuring founder and CEO Charles Schwab talking about investing.

Online video has grown in popularity as about half of U.S. households now have high-speed Internet connections. The Federal Communications Commission reported this week that broadband in U.S. homes and businesses rose 34 percent in 2004 to 37.9 million lines.
