LOS ANGELES Mitsubishi Motors America is in discussions with BBDO to handle creative chores on its $200 million ad account, sources said.

Late Friday, client director of advertising Kevin Mayer through a Mitsubishi representative said “no decision has been made” and might not be forthcoming for a week.

Omnicom Group’s BBDO in New York and Los Angeles competed in a review against Interpublic Group’s TM Advertising in Irving, Texas, and Publicis Groupe shops Publicis in Seattle and Publicis and Hal Riney in San Francisco.

The seven-year incumbent, IPG’s Deutsch/LA in Marina del Rey, Calif., declined to defend.

Agency executives either could not be reached or declined to comment.

Media buying chores with Omnicom’s PHD were not included in the review.
