LOS ANGELES Erich Funke has joined Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone & Belding as executive vice president and executive creative director, the agency confirmed.

The Irvine, Calif., office has been seeking a replacement for ecd Bill Cimino since he left the shop for DDB Chicago in May [Adweek Online, May 20], the third top creative that had departed the agency in as many years.

Funke, 39, was most recently a group creative director at BBDO in Chicago. He also worked at Omnicom Group’s TBWA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, Calif., where he contributed to Apple, Infiniti and Sony PlayStation campaigns, and at IPG’s Deutsch/LA, Marina del Rey, Calif., where he worked on Mitsubishi and Expedia. Earlier in his career, Funke was on staff at TBWA Hunt Lascaris in South Africa.

Neither Funke nor FCB president Jon Tracosas could be reached for comment.
