NEW YORK Guitars mouth off about Martin guitar strings in a series of print ads that break this week from Tierney Communications and follow the shop’s award-winning work for the brand’s guitars.

“After the image campaign broke, they invited us to give them our ideas on strings,” said shop creative director Kelly Simmons. “Their ads were really product-intensive. It was about the tensile strength, really left-brain stuff.”

Tierney copywriter John Halligan switched to a more emotional approach, lending the guitars a voice of their own.
