Israel Baseball League Story Scores A Hit /Editors Cry "Foul"

At Poynter, Alan Abbey writes about the recent flap over Elli Wohlgelernter’s Israel Baseball League story and who published it when. Tabloid Baby jumped the gun, and put the story up before the various papers who bought the pieces from Wohlgelernter. The unintended takeaway for freelancers is this:

Wohlgelernter sold the story to four U.S. Jewish newspapers, including the LA Jewish Journal and NY Jewish Week. He worked a “local angle” into as many slightly differing versions as possible, by quoting Jewish and non-Jewish players from the newspapers’ home towns.
