New York Loves New York

The whole gang chips in for New York magazine’s “123 Reasons to Love New York” issue, from Jennifer Senior‘s non-apologia for Bush to multiple entries by exec ed John Homans to editorial assistant Emma Rosenblum to contributing eds Logan Hill and Robert Kolker to senior editors Carl Swansonand Chris “Yes, We Have No” Bonanos (reason to love New York: the excuse to make that joke). Also, representin’ from Canucks Michael J. Fox , Arcade Fire and Adam Sternbergh, natch (Fishbowl: no bias or appearance of bias here!).

Here’s the best thing about the feature though: New York bringing the love to the New York Times in an homage to the institution (and a bit of an apologia). Key pullquote: “Whatever its lacunae, its occasional clumsiness in pursuit of its goals, the Times does a better job of seeing the world in three dimensions than any other news organization.” Homans has got the byline but Moss had to give the blessing…considering his origins, it’s a nice touch.

Extra reason to love New York: for everyone who gets a little extra action thanks to this; this, however, is highly debatable.

NB here’s one reason not to love New York’s New York: if you don’t have it. Why is my mailbox empty, New York? Sigh. I will have to love my New Yorker instead (illustration on pg. 52: Sexy. Full-page ad on the other side: sexier).

p.s. Another reason to love New York: it learns us good! Definition of “lacunae” here.
