Trust Advertising & Communications has launched spotset, an Internet-driven application that assists media buyers by creating customized radio advertising networks.

The service, created by the Memphis, Tenn., shop, is said to reduce the time and effort agencies expend planning, placing, billing, and paying for radio buys.

“This service is a win-win for clients and agencies,” said Howard Robertson Jr., Trust’s founder and chief executive officer. “We all know multiple-market radio buys can be a pain.”

Media buyers log onto the site (www.spotset.net), then input buy requirements. Proprietary software accesses a database that generates geographic and demographic positioning, as well as rate base and other data, then inputs and tracks the buy.

“The system can network stations to criteria, almost immediately” said Robertson.

The veteran broadcast consultant got the idea for the service watching Dell computer founder Michael Dell on The Charlie Rose Show.

The service passed a big test the week before the presidential elections. Robertson received a submission for media buys to support political advertising in Montana.

“Within an hour, we put together a network of 30 stations filling the agency’s needs,” said Robertson.
