It’s amazing to think that Twitter has been with us for less than five years – the platform first opened its doors on July 15, 2006.

But in the world of news, and certainly the internet, five years is a long time. If you think back over that period of your own life you’ll be amazed at how much has happened and what has changed, but that barely scratches the surface when it comes to world affairs and global events. And in that time Twitter has established itself as the de facto way to inform the world of ‘what’s happening’, and become a popular source of news itself.

So, imagine if it had never been invented. What would the world be like without Twitter?
