News.com.au reported on the Facebook scam, which promises users of the social network the chance to win $1,500 travel vouchers, but instead delivers them to fake Qantas Facebook pages, using the airline’s birthday as bait, although Qantas said its anniversary will not actually be celebrated until November.
A Qantas spokeswoman told News.com.au:
Our campaigns are always run from our authenticated Facebook page — identified by its authorized blue tick — or through the official Qantas website.
Individuals who encounter the page are advised not to provide personal details.
