Quark Launches QuarkXPress 9

Quark  officially announced the launch of QuarkXPress 9 today. This is the the next major release of the graphic design software, and it adds support for making apps and for making Blio ebooks. As part of Quark’s digital publishing 2.0 strategy, QuarkXPress 9 aims to give creative professionals more control over the execution of their designs via a single tool without the need for coding or programming.

One new feature for QuarkXPress 9 is App Studio for QuarkXPress. This lets designers publish to the iPad directly from QuarkXPress, all without needing vast development knowledge and experience.

QuarkXPress 9 will also let designers create eBooks for Blio to sell through the Blio ebookstore via a partnership with Baker & Taylor. Blio is a free reading application that lets viewers read full-color eBooks with enhanced content on a handful of devices. Blio features enhanced reading capabilities such as TTS, reflow, slideshows, video, Web content, and more.

QuarkXPress 9 will be available for purchase directly from Quark and through Quark authorized resellers in April 2011. Also, any copies of QuarkXPress 8 purchased between January 1st and April 30th will get a free upgrade to QuarkXPress 9 when it is available. For more information, click here.
