New Mexico’s largest shopping mall, Albuquerque’s Coronado Center, uses humor in a new, year-long campaign to persuade shoppers to whip out their plastic.
Breaking state-wide this month, the first “Plastic Meltdown Sale” television spot shows a “Mall Doll” flashing her credit card so often it literally bursts into flame in her hand.
In one of eight 15-second bookend and stand-alone television spots created by Albuquerque’s McKee Wallwork Henderson, the Mall Doll, while clutching the burning card, is later heard plaintively asking if the merchant will “take a check?” Another ad splits the screen into 64 images of the heroine in a frenzy of purchases while her words, “I love it.
