Speech recognition is difficult. And, performing the task on a resource limited mobile device is even more challenging. Speech recognition on phones and tablets requires sending the audio data over the wireless network (3G, 4G, or WiFi) to a server that does the actual processing and sends the text based on the speech back to the mobile device. That’s how Google, Microsoft and Nuance (Dragon) does it. So, adding speech to your own mobile app can be a daunting task if you don’t have this processing infrastructure.
