Scoreloop Launches Android App for Social Discovery and Cross-Promotions

Scoreloop, an innovative gaming platform that allows publishers to easily add social components to their games, has made the move into Android. The application allows users to manage their friends, social network connections and get news about popular games within their social network. The goal here is to aid in discovery of new games, and Scoreloop establishes itself as an effective way for a new game publisher to get their game out in people’s news feeds.

Typically Scoreloop provides the platform for games to leverage friends and social activities within their games, and they’ll be doing this for Android as well, but to start they’re releasing this standalone application. The application lets people see other Scoreloop users’ latest gaming activity, and that includes expansion to the iPhone. The userbase is apparently growing at over 100,000 users a day, and has millions of current players. As you can see below, the application focuses on providing information about the various games that a users’ friends are playing.

“Social discovery is a key driver for game sales and the missing link on Android,” said Marc Gumpinger, Scoreloop CEO. “Scoreloop is the Social Network focused on mobile gaming. We’re making sure that anyone with a smartphone can connect to their friends through games. When you’re looking for a game, with thousands to choose from, those games that your friends are playing are your best bet. Now it’s all possible with the Scoreloop app and it’s fun and free.”

The battle for developing an established gaming platform is one of the biggest ones around. With Google buying SocialDeck, we know that the technology in cross-platform gaming experiences is important, and certainly that’s something that Scoreloop is interested in, as their application allows users from different platforms to talk with each other.
