Does the World Really Need 9 Terminator Salvation iPhone Apps?

With the holiday season in full gear, my thoughts turned, of course, to LEGO. So, I searched for the text string “lego” in the iTunes Store to see if there were any new LEGO related apps to consider for purchase. The answer to this is, unfortunately, no. The only LEGO related apps are the free and paid versions of “LEGO Batman: Gotham City Games”. However, the iTunes Store search result page for “lego” produced 5 hits for “Terminator: Salvation” related apps. I have no idea why this is the case except that both the LEGO and Terminator apps are both Warner Brothers producs.

Searching for the words “terminator salvation” in the iTunes Store returned 12 results. And, 9 of these 12 were various Terminator Salvation games, entertainment or book apps produced either by Gameloft or Warner Brothers. The majority of these 9 Terminator apps were graphic novels. Only 2 were games (free and paid versions of the same game) and 1 make-me-look-like-a-Terminator entertainment app.

So, the answer is: No, there is no need for 9 Terminator Salvation apps. There should really just be four apps:

– Paid version of game
– Free version of game
– Entertainment app
– One graphic book publishing app with in-app purchasing of the graphic novel

It would also be nice if Apple provided category information for each app returned in a search.
