Flixster Movies for iPhone Made Facebook Connect Interesting

I have a Facebook account but rarely login to check it. People who see me posting to Facebook are actually reading items forwarded from Twitter (which I use daily when it isn’t in a Fail Whale state – @toddogasawara). So, when I read about Facebook Connect, I found it intersting but not compelling. Facebook Connect lets you authenticate to other services using your Facebook account name and password. Well, I finally found a use for it that interests me. I recalled reading that a recent Flixster Movies update for the iPhone included support for Facebook Connect…

Flixster Movies 2.5 (iTunes App Store)

If you use Facebook Connect from Flixster Movies, you can read what your friends on Facebook wrote about a movie as well as share your own rating and review of a movie. As a movie fan, this feature appealed to me. So, after watching the movie “District 9”, I decided to give it 4 stars (out of 5) and write a mini-review to post to Facebook. One odd thing I found about the process is that nothing appears to happen after pressing the “Publish” button in Flixster Movies. I had to press the “X” in the upper right hand corner to return to the app.

However, I verified that it was posted to my account by vising facebook.com and checking my profile. I’m looking forward to seeing if people I know start using this movie review feature in the future. And, the best part is I won’t even have to login to Facebook to check for their reviews. Flixster Movies places a small note next to a Movie title if a Facebook friend has reviewed it.
