Newspapers See Uptick in Online Viewership
The Associated Press reports that U.S. newspaper Web sites attracted 12% more visitors in the second quarter, “lending statistical credibility to the notion that Americans are increasingly getting their news online.”
Meanwhile, the online reach of newspapers topped 40%, according to Nielsen Online, up from 37.3% last year. “The latest audience figures provide further evidence that newspapers’ digital properties deliver highly accurate and hyper-local content that consumers can’t find anywhere else,” said Newspaper Association of America CEO John Sturm in the report.
