Yap Gets $6.5 Million to Grow Speech-to-Text Platform

Yap, whose Yap9 service makes it safe to text while driving, has secured $6.5 million in Series A funding from SunBridge Partners, Harbert Venture Partners, Pittco Capital Partners and some individual investors.

With Yap’s automated platform, users simply speak their SMS or Twitter message, social network update or Google search into their phone and it gets converted to text and delivered to the desired site.

The money will go towards business expansion and R&D initiatives. Yap launched trials of its service last August; the commercial version went live in April.
