When people lament the childishness of modern culture, they’re thinking of the way adults behave. There’s a parallel trend, though: Those who actually are children feel compelled to grow up too quickly. A report by the Girl Scout Research Institute looks at this phenomenon in girls age 8-12. Titled “Girls Speak Out: Teens Before Their Time,” the study says girls “seem to be pressured to deal with typically ‘teenage’ issues before they reach their teens.”
