Back to School: The Certified Internet Marketing Course

Last week, I decided to head back to school. Yes, I know — I graduated in May, I’ve already got my degree! But a hunger for learning is never a bad thing. So, when a colleague sent me the information about the Internet Marketing Association’s Certified Internet Marketing Course, I couldn’t say no! A sort of Target Marketing U, if you will. Taught by Adobe’s Director of Product Marketing, the first lesson took me back-to-basics on the fundamentals of internet marketing.

We looked at the three primary business models (publishing, ecommerce and lead generation), then examined the details of each one. Then, we dived into the funnel. Acquisition, conversion and retention came to life as we looked at the different methods for each, and where marketers are assigning spend for each in order to ensure the best possible return on investment (ROI).

Of course, this is only the beginning! In the five upcoming lessons of the Certified Internet Marketing Course, I’ll be learning about aspects of online marketing such as:

  • Online Acquisition
  • Online Conversion
  • Online Retention
  • Online Analytics and Measurement
  • Data-driven Marketing

I’m really excited to dig into the Certified Internet Marketing Course, and report back on what I’m learning! Stay tuned for future installments!
