Huffington to Receive IMC Award

Arianna Huffington, whose political discourse/blogging hub The Huffington Post is enjoying a big year as a result of a protracted presidential primary season, is set to receive the 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award at Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek’s Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show on May 15.

Huffington, the site’s co-founder and editor in chief, will deliver a keynote at the commencement on day two of the conference, which gathers publishing executives from the print, TV and digital worlds. Huffington’s keynote will be one of several sessions at this year’s event will delve into the editorial and ad sales impacts of the ongoing presidential campaign according to organizers. Also scheduled to appear are Richard Kosinski, vp of political advertising at Yahoo and Jason Manning, politics editor, Washingtonpost.com.

In addition to politics, conference organizers are hoping to cover several of the Web publishing world’s more pressing topics at the event, which is scheduled to take place a the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14-15. For example, day one of the conference opens with a keynote delivered by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia’s president of media Wenda Harris Millard, fresh off her much debated keynote at the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s annual meeting back in February. At that event, Millard warned against the potential dangers of commiditization in the online ad world–urging sellers to avoid trading their inventory “like pork bellies.”
