MightyHive Presses On With EU Expansion, Hires Simon Harris

The ad-tech personality will head the outfit's European sales network

Less than a year after opening two offices across the pond, the ad-tech buying firm MightyHive has brought on Simon Harris to oversee its sales operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Harris, who previously headed the programmatic activation team for Dentsu’s London branch, will work with MightyHive’s European managing director Sasha Schmitz to lead the European branch’s ad-tech and data-science operations. This is the company’s latest step into the European market since its rollout of flagships in London and Stockholm.

In an interview, Harris, who has worked in media services for more than 12 years, said MightyHive’s “incredibly strong vision for how these services will be delivered” and the “caliber” of the team’s European operations attracted him to the role.

Part of Harris’ position will revolve around fostering relationships with ad-tech players in the E.U. markets and in the Big Tech realm, and Google and Amazon will be central partners. The company has an eye on expanding further into Europe and beyond, Harris said.

MightyHive, which is focused on helping marketers get the biggest bang for their buck on marketing platforms like Google’s, had most recently attracted the attention of Sir Martin Sorrell, who recruited the company’s co-founders to join the board of S4 Capital after S4 had acquired their operations just a month prior. That same week, the digital news network Cheddar selected the buying company as their advertising services partner.

“We’re seeing strong demand in the region for programmatic services that can deliver transparent, advertiser-centric solutions that add real business value in a way the legacy agencies and traditional consultants cannot,” Schmitz told Adweek.
