Twitter Hires Former FCC Adviser

Colin Crowell will become head of global public policy

Twitter, already an established tool among Washington lawmakers, is building its presence in the nation’s capital. The social networking service has hired telecom policy veteran Colin Crowell as its new head of global public policy.

Twitter announced the appointment on Monday (via tweet, natch). “Very happy to welcome longtime user advocate Colin Crowell as Twitter’s head of Global Public Policy,” the company’s general counsel, Alexander Macgillivray, wrote.

Crowell was named senior adviser to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski in 2009 and helped to shape some of the current commission’s early broadband policies and its Open Internet order.
