Tribune Launches Online 'Syndicate'

The Tribune Co. today announced the launch of “The Syndicate,” which it describes as “a new online multimedia content marketplace bringing the latest news, lifestyle stories and sports reports to visitors of Tribune Co.’s television and newspaper Web sites.”

A release claims “Web site visitors now can learn about the topics they care about — news, business and entertainment — through interactive elements such as videos, photos, graphics, trivia and quizzes.”

The content comes from Tribune’s 23 television stations and newspaper websites, 17 TV stations owned by Local TV, LLC, and various outside entities.

“Our mission is to super-serve our Web site visitors around the clock,” Andy Friedman, vp, interactive content for Tribune Interactive, said in a statement.
