The 50 in the Politico 50 list, now in its third year, isn’t people; there are more than 50 names in Politico Magazine’s collection of, as it describes it, “thinkers, doers and visionaries transforming American politics in 2016.”
It is instead an individual, pair or trio of people who embody one of 50 concepts or ideas. Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Bernie Sanders, who both occupy the number one spot, embody the idea of ideas. “It was their ideas that drove their movements,” the magazine explains.
