Jessica Valenti has been named contributing editor at MarieClaire.com, where she will write a weekly column for the site. Valenti is the co-founder of the website Feministing, the author of a number of books on politics and feminism and is a columnist for The Guardian.
“Jessica is searingly smart—her insight into the issues facing women today is more of a must-read than ever before,” said digital director Jessica Pels in a statement. “I’m thrilled to bring her on board as MarieClaire.com’s contributing editor, and for her column on politics and feminism to become a destination that informs the way our readers see the world.”
Her first column for Marie Claire debuted yesterday; it’s a piece that takes back the idea of safe spaces from the conservatives who mock them, highlighting the real violence that creates a real need for their existence.
Over at Bustle, Erin Delmore joins as a senior political correspondent. She will be doing a mix of written features as well as on-air reporting on breaking news for the site.
Delmore joins from NJTV News, where she was a correspondent/producer. Prior to NJTV News, she had been a reporter and producer at MSNBC, where she worked on shows that included All In with Chris Hayes and Hardball with Chris Matthews. She had been a producer on the latter.

I can’t wait to travel the country and tell their stories and make sure that their concerns and passions are represented in today’s fast-moving media climate,” she said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to break news, break down the headlines, and inspire a new generation of women to understand their power in Washington and beyond. As we head into the 2018 midterms, and eventually the 2020 presidential election, I want to help make Bustle the place where women across the political spectrum engage with our democracy as educated voters and active citizens.”
Her first piece is up, and it looks at the reasons why terrorists and terrorist organizations carry out attacks on soft targets like entertainment venues and restaurants.
