Revolving DoorThe BBC plans to cut more than 1,000 jobs with a focus on streamlining management as well as slimming down the marketing and communications teams. In total, that figure represents roughly five percent of the 18,000-person workforce. “A simpler, leaner BBC is the right thing to do and it can also help us meet the financial challenges we face,” Tony Hall, the director general, wrote in a memo announcing the news. “We’ve already significantly cut the costs of running the BBC, but in times of very tough choices we need to focus on what really matters—delivering outstanding programs and content for all our audiences.”…

The New York Times loses Rebecca Howard, who has been overseeing the video team for the past two and a half years.
