Newsweek Hires Jim Impoco as Editor in Chief

Former Reuters digital editor aims to 'revitalize' publication

About a month after Newsweek got a new owner in IBT Media, the company announced today that Jim Impoco has taken the job of editor in chief of the troubled newsweekly.

Impoco most recently worked as a top digital editor at Reuters, experience that will be necessary for the brand since Newsweek ended its print edition late last year. He left Reuters back in January.

"Jim has a remarkable track record of leadership in journalism and a deep understanding of the digital industry, which is exactly what will take Newsweek to the next level," IBT Media CEO Etienne Uzac said in a statement.

Impoco—whose career also includes print experience, with stints at Conde Nast Portfolio and Fortune—said in a statement that he's looking forward to "revitalizing" the Newsweek brand.
