It’s there, lurking in the hashtag background: #JournalismSoWhite. On today’s edition of L.A. public radio station KPCC’s weekday morning program Take Two, three entertainment journalists of color – NPR’s Eric Deggans, People magazine senior film writer Alynda Wheat and recent L.A. Times addition Tre’vell Anderson – addressed a situation that perhaps should have Spike Lee, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith whittling down their lists of favored media outlets.
Here’s how Wheat described the “diversity deficit” at the top of today’s segment:
“I generally see very few [of us], unless I’m at a screening that is partiularly for an African-American film or something like that.
