Gotham Mag Moves (Far, Far) Downtown
It looks like the trouble-plagued 100 Church Street building downtown finally has a prominent tenant: Jason Binn‘s Niche Media (Gotham magazine, Hamptons, Los Angeles Confidential), who just signed on for a 45,000 square foot space starting shortly.
100 Church, operated by the Sapir Organization founded by colorful Georgian-American real estate and oil mogul Tamir Sapir (the “Billionaire Cabbie” owner of the Duke Semans mansion), had a 55.9% vacancy rate in 2004. Located a block away from Ground Zero and far from the traditional media centers of Midtown and SoHo, the building got a major makeover in 2006 that included work on the lobby’s Swarovski crystal chandeliers.
