CHICAGO McDonald’s highlights successful individuals who got their first jobs at the fast-food chain in a new television commercial from Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett.

The Chicago agency’s spot, called “My First,” features an airline pilot, a firefighter and celebrities such as Macy Gray and Carl Lewis talking about their first jobs at McDonald’s. “It was my first time in charge,” says the pilot. “It was my first time under pressure,” recalls the firefighter. “It was my first big break,” says Gray.

The cast includes people from countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic, Holland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The spot concludes with quick edits of all on-air talent saying, “What I learned there will last forever.”

“The people featured in the ‘My First’ ad are just a few examples of the millions of opportunities created by our great brand,” Rich Floersch, executive vice president of human resources at the Oak Brook, Ill., company, said in a statement. “McDonald’s offers world-class training, great benefits and skills that will last a lifetime, whether you grow within or outside of our system.”

The spot was shown as part of the company’s global human resources conference, which was held in Chicago this week. The exact break date and spending behind the TV ad could not immediately be determined.
