Facebook Bringing Some Contract Workers Back Into Its Offices to Review Content

Full-time employees have also been pressed into duty on posts related to real-world harm

Facebook provided an update on steps it is taking to maintain and improve its content review efforts, including bringing a small number of contract workers back to the office on a voluntary basis.

The social network said in its ongoing Newsroom post on Covid-19 developments that some of its full-time employees have also been tasked with reviewing content related to real-world harm, such as child safety, suicide and self-injury.

Returning to the office will be voluntary, and Facebook said it will work with its partners to take measures to keep content reviewers safe, including greatly reducing capacity in its offices, strict cleaning protocols, providing personal protective equipment and temperature checks at the beginning of every shift.

The social network wrote, “It’s become clear in recent weeks that our offices are unlikely to return to business as usual in the near future.
