Breaking: Pemberton Out At Spin
The second honeymoon for Andy Pemberton and Spin is over, FishbowlNY has learned. According to a FishbowlNY source with knowledge of the situation, the rumor that Pemberton — who replaced editor Sia Michel at Spin after its sale to Hartle Media three months ago — would be ousted is all-but-confirmed.
“It’s a done deal,” says the source.
A spokesperson for Spin, however, denies that is a “done deal” and that Pemberton is “still here” and that “nothing has happened.”
Pemberton, the former editor at Blender, told FishbowlNY in an unpublished interview last week that the magazine’s focus had shifted to a broader view, not only covering music for 18-to-25 year olds but also “the culture that surrounds them.”
