Bloomberg News' Bennett, Stanford U's Kennedy to Chair Pulitzer Prize Board
Columbia University today announced the appointment of Bloomberg News executive editor Amanda Bennett and Stanford historian David Kennedy as co-chairs of the Pulitzer Prize board. Both have served on the board since 2002.
Bennett currently heads up Bloomberg’s investigative unit, and has twice contributed to Pulitzer-winning stories — once in 1997 with The Wall Street Journal and again in 2001 with the Portland Oregonian. She has also worked for the Philadelphia Enquirer and the Lexington, KY, Herald-Leader.
Kennedy teaches history at Stanford University and has written a bunch of books: Birth Control in America: The Career of Margaret Sanger, Over Here: The First World War and American Society, Freedom From Fear: The American People in Depression and War, 1929-1945 and American history textbook The American Pageant.
The pair replaces Miami Herald executive editor Anders Gyllenhaal, who stepped down after one year as chair, as Pulitzer practice dictates.
