Al Kamen and FishbowlDC: Soulmates In Goofiness

So remember way back when FishbowlDC did a post noting that “If you didn’t already know, Washington Times scribe Kevin Chaffee is kind of a big deal, because he’s ranked #16 in Washington Life’s new ‘100 Most Invited’ list.”

Well, silly us: The list was done in alphabetical order, which would explain why Chaffee outranked such notables as Michael Chertoff, Bill Clinton, William Cohen, Ted Kennedy, etc., etc., etc. (not that Chaffee isn’t actually a rockstar, but Condoleezza Rice is the Secretary of State and all…).

But we’re glad to know that we weren’t the only ones to make the mistake. In yesterday’s column by Al Kamen:

The Democratic wins will alter the social scene in many ways, from large to small to meaningless. Washington Life Magazine’s September issue had a list of the “100 Most Invited” to various events.

President Bush and Laura Bush topped the list, followed by Vice President Cheney and Lynne Cheney, though neither of them are big on the local scene, the magazine reported. Third on the list were Sen. George Allen and his wife, Susan Allen.

Something tells us that’s likely to have changed already.

The magazine made an exception to the alphabetical rule for the Prez/VP & Co., but Allen, obviously, placed that high because of alphabetical order.
